The Big Sleepout at home

This year we are partnering up with local charity Wycombe Homeless Connection for their Big Sleepout at Home event.

On Friday 19 November we invite you to swap your bed for a sleeping bag and sleep somewhere you normally wouldn’t, for example, in the garden or even in the bath. The point of the Big Sleepout is to raise awareness of what it is like not to have a home and bed to go back to each night whilst raising money to combat homelessness – particularly during these colder months.

This year, Wycombe Homeless Connection are putting on a quiz for those taking part, so get involved, meet some new people, and raise some money for a good cause.

Wycombe Homeless Connection are a charity organisation providing emergency accommodation, food packs, clothing and hygiene products, counselling and support, and health care to reduce harm to those on the streets. In light of this, we are asking that Bucks students help us to raise a minimum of £50 to donate to help Wycombe Homeless Connection provide these vital services and help get the homeless off the streets this winter.

Every hour you spend participating in the Big Sleepout will count towards your community volunteering hours so don’t forget to log these after the event

For this event, we recommend clubs and societies set up a Just Giving page with money going directly to Wycombe Homeless Connection. You can then share this link with your members and send the link to volunteering@bucks.ac.uk so we can track fundraising. Any questions on how to create a Just Giving page pop down to the Students' Union office or drop us an email.
