Student Groups
Whether you're into competitive sports or you're looking for a group of like minded students to join in with, we've got you covered. Our student groups have everything from Athletics and Pole to Baking and Hockey - if you're interested in it, you can bet someone else is.
Getting involved in a society will give you the opportunity to try something new at university or continue something you love. If we don't have a society that you're looking to joing then why not create your own? We'll provide you with all the help and support to get your society started and you can even apply for funding to get your society up and running.
If competitive sports are more your speed, then we're here to support you. Whether you're looking to compete in local or national leagues, whatever your standard, our squads welcome everyone to come along and train. With 25 teams in 14 disciplines from football to swimming we've got something for everyone. There's also the opportunity to compete in our annual Varsity fixture against the University of Roehampton for the rights to the RoeBuck trophy.
More than a degree
Heading off to University is a big step, even if you're not going very far. Our mission is to make life better for students at Bucks and that extends beyond your academic journey. University is more than a degree so why not make the most of it?
Not really ready to compete in a league? Then sports for fun might just be for you. Our sport for fun sessions provide you with the opportunity to take part in a variety of recreational sports. There's loads to choose from! From traditional sports, like badminton and football, to more adventurous sports such as skiing and climbing.
It's more important than ever that when you graduate, you have more on your CV than just your degree. So to boost your employability, we have a range of different skills-based workshops like public speaking, CV writing and even learning a new languagr. These are sessions that anyone can take part in and we try to make sure there is something for everyone since all of our sessions are free, so if you don't see anything useful to you, get in touch and let us know.
It's important you take time our from job hunting and studying to enjoy some downtime. So, whether you're looking for new experiences or want to conitnue something you enjoyed back home, we offer a range of recreational activities for you to get involved in. Theatre trips, days out, and guitar lessons are just a taster of the different recreational activities you can get up to during your time at university.
To top it all off, we want to support your creative flair. So if you're a budding journalist, looking to find your voice in radio, love a bit of post production work, or looking to expand your film reel, our student media has you covered. The Bucks Student newspaper, Rusty's Radio, and Bucks Student TV make up our student media offer and are bursting with student led content.
Giving Back
Year on year, our dedicated students give back countless hours of their time to the local community and help us to fundraise for some truly incredible causes.
Volunteering provides opportunities for students to gain extra skills and develop themselves whilst assisting good causes in our community. Some students run their own projects, so if you come up with an idea to start a project, our team can help support you. Volunteering is usually split into three categories: short and long term projects, and international opportunities.
Raise and Give, or RAG, is the heart of our our fundraising efforts at Bucks. We focus on two local charities each year and our members pick them - so it's up to you who you fundraise for. In the past, our members have taken part in a wide variety of activities including sky diving and sponsored runs!
Events and Entertainment
Our gigs, clubs nights, comedy, themed parties, and events are totally free for our members, 7 nights a week. We have a wide range of daytime and evening entertainment allowing you to experience new things and socialise with broader groups of people in and around our award winning facilities. The Venue and The Lounge combine to be a safe and inclusive, student-centered social space. Live music, theme nights, bingo, and comedy - you name it, we do it! In the past
We've played host to wide range of acts and artists over the year, from Freshers' Fortnight all the way through to our end of year FestiBall, our events are truly start studded. Whether that’s been singing along with Caity Baser, Nothing but Thieves, and Yung Bane or getting front row seats to see Sigala, Becky Hill, and even Bastille.
