We all wished for a Christmas miracle for the last week of BUCS fixtures in 2021, and Santa delivered!

Eight teams competed this week with some phenomenal results. Futsal played away on Sunday to Imperial in their second round of the cup but the boys weren’t able to maintain their undefeated score line as the higher division Imperial team went on to win 10-6, they may be out of the cup BUT they are still currently undefeated within the league!

When it came to our football teams however, Bucks FC 3rd team rose from the dust on the brink of fixtures being re-scheduled due to teething issues. Connor Ward stepped up as Captain for the 3rd team playing at home against Queen Mary’s and the boys were able to not only bring home their first win, but a whopping 4-0 win with goalkeeper Elliot West maintaining a clean sheet.

Bucks FC 4th team were also at home this week, although they weren’t able to bring home a win they had their best scoring defeat so far this season.

Women’s hockey scoreline was the best so far this season for them, they played at home against Imperial. Although it wasn’t a win, the ladies were able to put out a great performance losing only by one point with a 4-3 fina score.

Both Netball teams went out to play and the Netball 1st team absolutely smashed their game against West London, winning 64-16. The Netball 2nd team played away to Royal Holloway and the 17:30 kick off seemed to have got to the girls this week as they lost 44-22.

Women’s volleyball triumphed for the first time this season, winning their first game against Surrey 3-1 on home turf.

Men’s basketball finished off the 2021 season in style playing at home to Chichester where the boys lead most of the game. Things seemed close at one point where they were drawing but, our boys pulled through and the fight came out as they sped past Chichester’s defence winning 68-51.

Rainbow Laces Day fell on our final Wednesday fixtures of the year. Our sports clubs will always be an inclusive and welcoming space and we strongly believe that sports are for everyone. Since the beginning of this year's sporting fixtures our captains have been wearing the rainbow armbands along with laces as an ongoing pledge against discrimination within any sport.

As always, we like to give a special shout-out to players who have been recognised within their games:

Netball 1st team– Summer Knight

Netball 2nd team – Alissa Mailes

Volleyball - Ada Palkowska

Basketball – Roberto Marini

Futsal - Felipe Schol
