Isham's First-Year University Experience

First of all, my name is Isham (Aka Gary) I am a first-year student. Personally, it was a long journey for me coming from Qatar to England and studying at BNU. Since joining the University in September I’ve been welcomed into the Bucks FC family with open arms. In the couple of months that I have been at university, I’ve found myself doing a lot of activities such as volunteering, giving back to the community through fundraising, and joining in with campaigns – all things I never thought I would be doing. One of the best things at Bucks is the football community, I believe that Bucks FC is the best club you could join because it’s just a big family, where everyone gets along with each other. Wednesday is the best day for us footballers as we go out on the pitch and enjoy ourselves, and then we get to celebrate our wins and forget our losses on socials. I’m really looking forward to Varsity, seeing everyone come together to support everyone is going to be amazing. University itself is great I am enjoying the course I’m doing even though it has its challenges, but I feel blessed to be surrounded by good friends who are always positive and happy to help. Well, you can’t really talk about Bucks without mentioning the night time activities that they offer to us students for free, one of my all-time favorites is Bingo lingo night and as it’s a once-a-month night out it's always worth the wait.

The SU has become another home for me, and I am very grateful for everything they offer.

Leo's First-Year University Experience

My first year at BNU has been everything I thought it would be and more, at the start of the year I made sure to get involved during fresher's week by going to all the events put on by the SU and going to the fresher's fair.

I signed up to Bucks FC  during freshers fair and I made sure to go to trials and that is where I made all my friends, trials have been one of the highlights for me this year because it was so good to meet so many new people whilst playing football

I was chosen as the first-team goalkeeper for Bucks FC, which is such an honour to be playing with some very talented lads! I have thoroughly enjoyed playing for the team home and away throughout the season and I am looking forward to playing in my first varsity game this year.

We have football socials every Wednesday night after our fixtures, and they are always so much fun, hanging out with mates and having a good time.

The Student Union is amazing as they hold so many fun and interesting events and activities such as frat night every Wednesday, the Quiz every Sunday and much more. The opportunities they offer such as free snow sports, volunteering opportunities, skill sessions and fundraising events are just a bonus which I think everyone should try and get involved with.

My first year at university is turning out to be amazing and I couldn’t be happier!
