BUCS is back

It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for, BUCS Wednesdays are back!

We’ve kicked off the competitive sports year with a bang, over the last two weeks we’ve sent out 15 teams to represent BNU across the South East Region in the British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) league.

Our teams have given it their all over the last two weeks but unfortunately, the results haven’t always been in their favour. The start of the year is always rocky with new teams, new coaches, and if you’re like me, not really doing much exercise over the summer.

The Netball 1st team have continued their winning streak from last year with a back-to-back win. Last week against Chichester they won 38-29 and this week against Royal Holloway a strong 38-31. It seems 38 might just be their lucky number.

The Men’s Volleyball team gave a strong performance last week winning 3-1 against Chichester, unfortunately, this week against Reading they just missed out on the win.

Although the scores haven’t been the greatest, the players still gave it their all and so we’d like to share with you the Players of the Day. These are chosen by teams each week for different reasons ranging from sportsmanship to technique.

Riyad Moussaid, Michael Harding, Chris N, Shad, Emmanuel, Richard Sho-Silva, Jake Bainbridge, Holly S, Mercy O, Amelia W, Darius, Sophie L-R, Maggie, Alfie T, Zsofi B, Richard O, Sam C, James Saxby, Nathaniel.

A huge congratulations to all of our Players of the Day.

Each week the activities team chooses the Team of the Week – this isn’t necessarily based on performance. Last week’s Team of the Week was Men’s Volleyball, their outstanding teamwork and drive meant that they got the win they deserved. This week it’s Netball’s 1st team, continuing their winning streak from last year and showing off the Bucks spirit.

Hopefully next week will bring us more wins, and better weather.
