Befriending with Bucks Mind involves meeting or calling and supporting someone each week for around 6 months. A boundaried, supportive, short term relationship is developed where the volunteer helps someone to build confidence and self-esteem by listening and being there for them. They may encourage them to access activities or groups in their community which will offer them more sustainable options when befriending comes to an end, or just have a cup of coffee and a chat. We work with anyone over 18years and try to use the volunteers skills and experience to benefit the service user. An understanding of mental health issues would be helpful but we offer regular training and development sessions and ongoing support if you need it. We recognize that your mental health is as important as the mental health of the people we work with and we are here for everyone. Please do call for more info or see https://www.bucksmind.org.uk/get-involved
