On Monday 3 June, several students volunteered their time to participate in a litter pick near Uxbridge Campus. The event was open to everyone, allowing participants to join for as long as they could. All students took time during their lunch breaks to help clean up the area. Afterwards, students commented on how proud they felt, how their spirits were lifted, and how they experienced a sense of achievement. Here at Bucks Students' Union, we offer volunteering opportunities throughout the year.
Students involved were David Thomas, Yordanos Baraki, Malgorzata Khaoles, Marie Somtotoh, Clara Adjei Kuffour, Zeinab Ali, Souda Chowdhury, Halima Hersi and Emelia Bekoe-Amponsan.
Questions we asked the students:
“Why do you think it’s important to take care of the environment”
Clara Adjei kuffour
“To protect the planet, Litter can destroy the soil meaning it will have an impact on what we grow from the soil”
Zeinab Ali
“We all need to do our bit, in terms of recycling and maintaining our grounds in the local area we are living, studying or working in, we should all do our bit and in the long run it helps save the planet”
“Why do you think it’s important to take care of the environment and also volunteer your time”
Souda Chowdhury
“To take care of the environment as we breathe in the same air, we can damage the air with air pollution and toxicity, we need to protect the air we breathe. Volunteering is important, it can show a good role model, and what you can contribute, if you don’t start then others may not, and someone has to start”
“Why do you think it’s important to volunteer your time”
Halima Hersi
“Good to give back to the community. Volunteering is always good to help out in any way”
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students who volunteered their time for the recent litter pick near the Uxbridge campus. Your dedication and willingness to contribute, even during your lunch breaks, have made a significant impact on our environment. Your efforts not only helped to clean our surroundings but also fostered a sense of pride and community. Thank you for your hard work and commitment to making our campus a better place.
