For anyone new to BNU, welcome! For those returning, it’s that time again - the Bucks Students’ Union by-elections are now open for student reps across all courses, and Union Council Chair!

From Monday, 30th September until Friday, 18th October, students across the university can put themselves forward to be the voice of their peers. After the nominations period, all students can vote on who they wish to represent them.

Student Reps

Student reps serve as a vital part of the representation process at BNU, bridging the gap between students and the wider university, and relaying your concerns, feedback, and suggestions - both positive and negative - on your academic experience. Whether it's a matter of campus facilities, course feedback, or university policies, student reps ensure that your voice is heard.

Student reps are rewarded up to £100 and gain access to valuable resources, including training and development opportunities. This role also provides a pathway to future student leadership positions including School Officers, who represent student at a School level, Student Voice Officers, who work to improve the student experience for diverse groups, and Elected Officers, who help shape the direction of the students' union.

Union Council Chair

Union Council is the highest decision-making body of Bucks Students' Union, representing the collective voice of students at BNU. The Council meets regularly to discuss important issues, hold the elected officers to account, and ensure students’ voices are heard on matters that affect their university experience.

The Council is led by the Union Council Chair, a current student elected annually by BNU students. We are looking for a student to take on this role, leading meaningful discussions, shaping student policies, and ensuring all Council members have a platform to raise and debate ideas.

The Chair is responsible for running the Council meetings, ensuring all members have the chance to raise and discuss any ideas or issues. They also help prepare the agenda with members of the Students' Union Staff, making sure meetings are organised, promoted, and run smoothly.

How to Nominate?

If your course does not already have a student rep, elections are taking place on the Student’s Union website. There, you can also find the election for Union Council Chair.

You can also upload a manifesto to help layout your plans for the role you are standing for. This is your chance to outline the changes you aim to implement if you are successfully elected and share some information about yourself and what makes you the best candidate for the role.
