We are thrilled to introduce our new campaign, Safety Net. This initiative integrates key elements of student safety, education, and wellbeing into a unified and comprehensive approach. The campaign represents our commitment to ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and empowered throughout their university journey.

What Does the campaign Cover?

The Safety Net campaign addresses a wide range of issues impacting students, including:

  • Campus Safety: Collaborating with the university to enhance lighting, CCTV coverage, and overall security measures, ensuring all students always feel safe on campus.
  • Local Community Safety: Promoting awareness and collaboration to ensure the safety of students both on and off campus. This includes initiatives such as fostering relationships with the local authorities to address any safety concerns within the wider community.
  • Housing Safety: Advocating for secure, safe, and well-maintained student accommodations through active participation in campaigns and lobbying efforts aimed at driving meaningful change at the government level. Our focus includes empowering students with knowledge about their rights as tenants, providing clear guidance on reporting concerns.
  • Sexual Education and Relationships: Promoting healthy relationships, consent education, and resources for sexual wellbeing, because everyone deserves to feel confident and informed in their personal lives.
  • Sexual Misconduct and Harassment: Raising awareness and addressing the sensitive but critical topics of sexual misconduct and harassment. We are highlighting the importance of the Report and Support system, ensuring that both the reportee and the reported are treated fairly, with access to appropriate support services.
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing: Partnering with the university’s Student Hub and the student advice centre, plus mental health services to provide accessible resources for managing stress, anxiety, and overall mental wellness.
  • Financial Safety: Offering guidance and support for managing finances, so students can focus on their studies without unnecessary financial strain.

Collaboration and Support

The success of this campaign lies in collaboration. We’re working closely with the University, the Student Hub, and the Student Advice Centre to provide a unified network of support. Whether it’s about Campus safety to personal concerns, we want every student to know there is a system in place to support them.

Find Everything in One Place

We’re making it easy for you to access the information and support you need. All campaign details, resources, and useful links will be added to the Campaigns section of our website. Whether you’re looking for contact information, practical tips, prevention methods or ways to get involved, it’ll all be there at your fingertips.

Why This Matters

Safety and wellbeing are the foundation of a fulfilling university experience. By addressing these interconnected aspects, we aim to create an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally. The Safety Net campaign is not just about addressing problems when they arise; it’s about providing prevention methods through education, awareness, and proactive measures. It’s equally important to understand what personalised support can be provided to you if something happens.

Get Involved

This campaign is built for students, by students. We encourage you to share your experiences, concerns, and ideas to help us shape the Safety Net into something truly impactful. Together, we can ensure that no one feels alone or unsupported during their time at university.
