Mental Health Impacts Every Aspect of Life

Mental health doesn’t just affect how we feel; it plays a fundamental role in how we function every day. Our emotional state can shape our decisions, relationships, and productivity. For instance, when we are mentally well, we tend to be more motivated, resilient, and capable of managing stress. On the contrary, when we struggle with mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, or stress, our ability to perform day-to-day tasks becomes worse.

A study by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that depression is one of the leading causes of disability globally. This demonstrates that mental health issues can have far-reaching consequences on personal productivity and societal well-being.

BNUs Mental Health Provision

The University will be covering a range of Mental Health and Wellbeing topics to support you in your student journey here at BNU, which will be held in-person on Thursdays from 10:15am till 11:45am on a weekly basis. Feel free to choose any number of sessions that interest you. We have various groups with unique themes, and you can attend as many or as few as you wish!

The Counselling and Mental Health Service at BNU comprises two distinct provisions: counselling and mental health support. The counselling provision operates as a self-referral service, allowing any student enrolled at BNU to register using our designated registration form, found here. The mental health provision is accessible only through staff referrals; students are unable to self-refer for this service.

Location: The Counselling and Mental health Service can be found in Room N1.12G, North Wing on the first floor, above the Students’ Union in the High Wycombe Campus.
