Meet Harry, your Vice President Education & Welfare (HW), for the academic year 2024/25.
Hi, I’m Harry! I am pleased to be your Vice president of Education and Welfare for High Wycombe.
I started my journey at BNU in 2021, studying BA Hons Acting (TV, Film and Stage), in which I was presented with a lot of excited opportunities within the course and learned about the human condition through theory and performance.
During my first year I became a part of Bucks Student’s Union via the The Lounge, where I was introduced to a wonderful team, as well as being integrated into the Union community. Through the bar I have developed many valuable skills, such as time management, teamwork and communication, as well as learning new skills such as pouring pints!
In 2023 I became a team leader at The Lounge where I developed my management and leadership skills. I would often work evening events during term time (these events were only possible due to The Big Deal). With this I had the opportunity to interact and communicate with a variety of different students and staff, mixing myself in with our wonderful community.
During my third year of study, I also worked alongside our events team to host our weekly quiz, presented by our Student’s Union. This was a wonderful opportunity for me as it meant that I could engage with more students and improve my public speaking. I also enjoyed this role as it allowed me to practice for a future career in entertainment, which is a big ambition of mine.
I’ve taken a big interest into talking with students and staff whilst working within the Union, and it has always been in my nature to cater and support people where I can, no matter the circumstance. For this reason, I decided to run for the position of Vice President Education and Welfare, a position in which I can listen to student voices and support those in need! I look forward to representing your voice and making you’re experience at Bucks the best it can be!
