Another Wednesday, another fixture day. With eight fixtures this week we certainly had our hopes up for some big wins, especially with it being the first cup week!

Men’s Basketball had their first win of the season this week and a 59-56 win means they are now through to the next stage of the cup. Hopefully, this win narks the start of a winning streak, could we see a bit of a cup run? Men’s Basketball’s next game is at home in the Events Hall to Imperial on Wednesday 16 November.

Our Men's Football 1st and 2nd teams also had their first cup fixtures this week. The 1st team travelled to Brighton and came home with a 3-2 win. Our Bucks FC 2nd team had a nail-biting match – the full-time whistle blew and it was 1-1 taking the game to penalties. Unfortunately, the 2nd  team lost out on their cup place with a 7-6 loss.

Bucks Men’s Rugby took to the Marlow pitch after a two-week break from fixtures, and unfortunately they lost against Reading 64-12. The team have their first away game of the season next week, so maybe stepping away from home turf might help them bring home a win.

The Women’s Hockey team played at home to Writtle this week and after last week’s loss, it was fantastic to see that the girls brought it back with an 8-0 win! Next week you can see the team go away to play RVC. Also a special shout out to the Women’s team for being Octobers Club of the Month.

The Netball’s 1st and 2nd team’s played at home this week. The 1st team girls continued their winning streak and secured a win, with a final score of 44-28 against Imperial. Netball’s 2nd team played against City University but unfortunately, they couldn’t bring the win, losing 64-12. The scores mean that the Netball 1st team will continue in the cup, but for the 2nd team they go no further.

Our Men’s Volleyball team played at home this week in their first cup game and won 3-1 against Anglia Ruskin. A great win which takes them through to the next round of the cup.

Our Futsal team will be facing the Canterbury Men’s team at home on Sunday 13 November at 4;14pm in the Event Hall and you are all welcome to come and watch.

We’d also like to give a shout out to all of the Players of the Match that were recognised by their Captains for excelling during their game: Rui Oliveira, Tim Cunningham, Brendan Lawrence, Ethan Hutcheson, Mercy Oyebo, Hannah Jackson, Jethro Odumosu, and Stephen Izobo.

Each week your Student Activities team chose a Player of the Day from those Players of the Match and Team of the Week – this week our Player of the Day is Tim Cunningham from our rugby team, who normally plays at 10 but this week took to the challenge of playing with the forwards, receiving forwards player of the day. Our Team of the Week is Men’s Basketball. After losses all season, they finally found their footing as a team, bringing them that win they needed.
