Student Trustees are not just about attending meetings; it's about being an active participant in the decision-making process. You'll become an integral part of the Students' Union.
As you have probably seen, the #BSUElections are back!
During this election period, we have three student trustee positions are up for grabs, but what exactly are student trustees I hear you ask?
What Are Student Trustees?
Student trustees are current students who sit on the Students’ Unions Trustee board, with the 4 sabbatical officers, 4 external trustees, and the CEO of the Students’ Union. Student Trustees help shape the direction of the Students’ Union, playing a key role in the decision-making process, and help keep the union on track with its goal of making life better for students at Bucks.
Student Trustee Responsibilities
As a Student Trustee, you'll have a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the Union. The Trustee Board, as a governing body of a registered charity, has the final say in the Union’s significant plans and strategies. This means your contributions will directly impact improving the educational and overall experience of students at Bucks.
It’s worth noting that one of our Student Trustee positions is specifically reserved for a student from the Uxbridge campus, ensuring representation across our student body.
The role is not just about attending meetings; it's about being an active participant in the decision-making process. You'll work alongside four Sabbatical Officers and other trustees, ensuring that the Union operates responsibly and continues to meet its objectives. Furthermore, Student Trustees have the opportunity to be involved in various committees, such as Finance & Staffing, Governance, and Strategy and Planning, as well as regularly providing updates to Union Council and the student body, you'll be a key communicator and representative of your peers.
