Each month, we ask you to submit your nominations for individuals and groups that just deserve that extra bit of recognition.
Community volunteer of the month: Shannan Vale
Shannan has been awarded community volunteer of the month for the amazing work Shannan has been doing. Shannan has been working with the One Can Trust to sort donations, performed with both BNU Dance and Musical Theatre to switch on the Christmas Lights in the town centre, is performing with Musical Theatre to provide a panto with a care home and is a leader in the Sea Cadets.
Innovative idea of the month: Paramedicine Society
Paramedicine completed a 12 hour CPR a thon for our RAG Charity Wycombe Mind. Raising £225.00, not only did they endure the 12 hours, but was also teaching other students and staff how to complete CPR correctly and understand the mental and physical strength needed to get through a length of time doing a life saving activity.
Committee member of the month: Jean Marc Amagoua
Jean Marc has been instrumental in the running of Men’s Rugby, communicating consistently with SU staff and student members alike. Setting an example to freshers with enthusiasm and determination to see his club succeed.
Performance of the month: Bucks Men’s Rugby
Rugby have been heavily involved across the Union during November. Including logging volunteering hours consistently, ticking off a large amount of their accreditation, participating in Smile and being the front runners in highlighting the importance of Movember.
Rep of the month: Jess Leach
’Jess has shown strong dedication in their role as a student representative, working hard to improve the student experience for everyone they represent. They have organised and led meetings with various university staff, from teachers to top school management. Throughout their time in the role, Jess has consistently raised issues that affect the whole cohort, making sure the concerns of their peers are heard and addressed. Their commitment to making a positive difference has had a real impact on improving communication between students and staff, and heling students get what they deserve from their student experience’’.
Staff Celebration: Jessica Raban-Williams and Fiona Minors
Nominations from Fashion Promotion and Communication students stated that Jessica and Fiona have had a significant impact on their journeys. From setting up one-to-one sessions to providing support during maternity leave, both Fiona and Jessica ensure that students are in a good position to continue with their studies. They give direct feedback which helps students to see things clearly and they feel that the valuable feedback they provide enables students to be better future ‘’fashionistas’’. Both Jessica and Fiona are outstanding individuals who have students respect and deserve recognition for everything they do, even the things students don’t see. They offer students guidance, presentations, feedback, and resources behind the scenes, which students are incredibly grateful for.
