Last week saw our clubs head back into fixtures and it was a brilliant week! We thought some of the return-to-sports butterflies would have been overcome, but unfortunately this wasn’t the case for this weeks fixtures.
Men’s Basketball had their second game of the season, and it was a close one. The team travelled to Surrey for a 5pm tip off. The men’s team played well the whole way through but that wasn’t enough to keep Surrey at bay as they ran away with a 68-61 over our Bucks team. Men’s Basketballs’ next game is away to Reading on Wednesday 2 November.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Bucks FC 4th team were unable to play their game against Anglia Ruskin’s 3rd team this week but our other three Men's Football teams were able to make it out. The 1st team travelled to Middlesex and came out with a 2-2 draw. Our Bucks FC 2nd team proved to be the better team against Royal Holloway, bringing home a 1-0 win. The Bucks FC 3rd team travelled away to Greenwich and after a loss last week, came home with a 4-1 win. Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams are out to play in the first round of the cup next week with the 1st team playing at home on The Rye with a 1pm kick off.
This year our Women’s Football team take to the league and last week bought home a 5-3 win against Reading. They might have got carried away in the celebrations this week however as they took a 7-0 loss against Kings College. Watch them try their luck next week with a 1pm kick off at Holmer Green.
Bucks Men’s Rugby has had a tricky start to the season with two losses and in true Bucks Men’s Rugby, style a few injuries. This week was a great game against Kingston University with a 33-7 loss but hopefully, their next game against Reading Men’s Third team will bring more joy. The next chance you have to watch the team is 2pm at Marlow Rugby Club on Wednesday 2 November.
This week our Men’s Hockey team were unable to play their game against Kent. However, the Women’s Hockey played away to Imperial but weren't able to hold on the win after last week, and came back with a 4-1 loss.
The Netball 1st team played at home this week and with a final score of 40-21 against Surrey, the girls had a great game and brought home their second win of the season. We can’t wait to see how the rest of their season pans out. The Netball 2nd team were also at home this week, playing against City University but unfortunately, they couldn’t bring the win, losing 4-52.
Our men’s and women’s Volleyball teams both played at home this week. Our men’s team won 3-0, which was great to see after a loss last week, who knows what next week will bring with their first away game of the season. Our women’s team, unfortunately, lost their game against Surrey this week but we have high hopes for next week’s away fixture against Sussex.
Our Futsal team have had an amazing start to their season with an 8-6 win against Brunel on Sunday.
We’d also like to give a shout out to all of the Players of the Match that were recognised by their Captains for excelling during their game: Summer Knight, Zach Bonifacii, Eva O’Donovan, Georgia Reeve, Sam Crowther, Ozion Bowen, Sharath Thakua, Nico Tissera, Dwayne Wilson, and Maciej Pinkowski.
Each week your student activities team choose a Player of the Day and Team of the Week – so keep an eye out for our celebration station to find out who’s won.
