Bucks SU celebrates... Black History Month
Tina follows the journey of the multi-awarding artist. Meet Anna Mae Bullock during her humble childhood years in Nutbush, Tennessee, all the way to her multiple Grammy wins and a record-breaking concert in Rio de Janeiro. It’s not all good times in the spotlight though; the musical reflects on her struggle to launch her solo career, as well as her abusive relationship with Ike Turner.
Learn how Tina defied the bounds of her age, gender, and race in style. This isn’t a sob story. This is a story of hope, resilience, and pure determination. From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her triumphant transformation into a multi award-winning global superstar, Tina Turner didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them, winning 12 Grammy Awards.
Created during Black History Month, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical’s new year-round initiative supports local Black-owned businesses. In partnership with the cast, creative team, and producers of TINA, they are striving to create more opportunities for communities beyond the four walls of the theatre.
Each month, they shine the spotlight on a different local Black-owned business or restaurant! This month is focussed on:
Dreamfruit is an exotic fruit specialist retailer birthed in the midst of the Covid pandemic by brothers, Connor Malcolm and Tyler Castello. The pair had no intention of starting this business but when their network of friends and family became curious about how they were fuelling themselves and the fruit they would regularly eat, they decided to go all in and commit to building a business that would help to fuel the dreams of people wishing to live healthier lives.
Now the business supplies premiership football clubs, businesses and thousands of customers across the UK.
Our mission is to enable the next generation to connect with the most natural forms of nutrition and inspire them to strive towards their dreams
