The Task:

This is the seconf of three sessions are focussed on tree work. We will be coppicing hazel and willow stems that are blocking light to the River and making it overly dark. This will be in readiness for us to install tree sweepers and plant marginal vegetation throughout the summer months.

 

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

9.45: Arrival to fit waders, please don't be late!

10.00: Safety and task briefing

10.15: Work begins

11.30: Tea & coffee break

13.00: Lunch Break - please bring your own

15.30: Work finishes, time to go home!

 

What to bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain.

We also advise to bring spare clothes if you fancy going in the river. W e will supply waders and a buoyancy aid if necessary, please let us know your shoe size when registering. Or feel free to bring your own waders and buoyancy aid if you have them.

Please bring plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.
